Yacht Crew Employment and Contracts

Döhle Yacht Crew Employment Service are supplied using a standard BIMCO (Baltic and International Maritime Council) ”CREWMAN A cost plus fee” contact and modified to suit each clients’ requirements.
A CREWMAN B “lump-sum” contact could be considered should the client wish to accurately budget crew costs throughout the year.
The seafarer’s employment contract will be written on terms agreed between the employer and the captain and/or owner. The contracts compliant with current legislation and will be compliant with the Maritime Labour Convention when ratified.
An accounting system for each client is set up to maintain suitable records of costs and expenditure incurred as well as data necessary or proper for the settlement of accounts. A financial report is issued to clients on monthly basis.
The BIMCO Contracts
Based on its SHIPMAN 98 Ship Management Contracts the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) created CREWMAN A, which is an agency or cost plus basis. BIMCO created CREWMAN B for situations where a manager supplies crew as principal or on a lump sum basis.
The Crew Management Agreements Compared 
·       In CREWMAN B, the crew managers employ the crew and act in their own name
·       In CREWMAN A, the crew managers act as agents for and on behalf of the owners
·       Crew Insurances are provided by the owners in CREWMAN A, unless otherwise agreed
·       CREWMAN A contains provisions for “Budgets and Management of Funds” relating to the “cost plus fee” structure of the Agreement
·       CREWMAN A requires the crew managers to maintain true and correct accounts and to make them available to the owners for inspection and auditing
